Happy 30th Anniversary to Simon and the team at Cutting Edge! ✂️🎈

When Simon came to us wanting a statement display to celebrate 30 years in business, we knew we had to go big… and we delivered!

This incredible green and gold installation transformed the front of the salon and created the perfect backdrop for a milestone worth celebrating. From oversized organic balloon garlands to statement entrance columns, every detail was designed to make an impact.

What you don’t always see behind the scenes is what it takes to make displays like this happen. We battled the height, the blazing sunshine, and soaring temperatures during installation. Anyone who works with balloons knows that some balloons and extreme heat are not the best of friends!

That’s why when the weather took its toll, we returned to carry out repairs and maintenance, ensuring the display continued looking its best throughout the weekend celebrations.

A little update from us…

What a few weeks it’s been! Between four days in the theatre, weddings, corporate events, installations and everything else in between, we’ve been running at full speed.

Add a heatwave into the mix and let’s just say balloons become a lot more interesting to work with… but we’ve made it through, every setup has gone out looking amazing, and we’re still smiling!

For the first time in a while, Jo is taking a well-earned break in the Maldives, and I’m taking a few days to explore New York City for my sons 18th Birthday. But while we’re away, we’ve got the dream team holding the fort. Robin and @balloons_by_emilyw have everything covered and under control this weekend 💪

One thing we’ve been reminded of recently is how lucky we are to have such amazing people around us. Everyone has pulled together, stepped up when needed, and helped make sure everything runs exactly as it should. Whether it’s long theatre days, early starts, late finishes, or battling balloons in 30-degree heat, everyone has stepped up and pulled together.

We’re incredibly lucky to have such an amazing team around us, and we’re grateful to every client who continues to trust us with their special moments.

Making props, and working backstage has got to be one of our favourite parts of the year.

3 days, 6 shows, no sleep… but we absolutely love it!

In the middle of a crazy busy week, we honestly didn’t think we’d find the time to get down there, but a late afternoon “shall we just go?” decision… and it was worth every single minute.

If you’re a creative, you’ll understand how much something like this can reignite your ideas and inspire growth. Every year we leave feeling completely in awe of the talent, imagination, and detail behind these incredible installations. There were far too many standout displays to include them all, but here’s a little montage from such a brilliant day.

We’ve been a little quiet on here lately, but we wanted to check in and say we are still very much here.

Behind the scenes it has been full on, with lots of projects, planning, and exciting things taking shape that we can’t wait to share.

Over the past year, Fern and Wild has become a huge part of what we do. It came from years of working with artificial florals and recognising just how much the quality can vary, and how important it is to get it right.

Everything we create is bespoke and thoughtfully designed, with each piece made specifically for the space or client.

And for those who love seeing Robin, he’s still very much part of the team. He’s taken a step back to focus on his other work, but is still behind the scenes with us when we need him, and will be back full time at Christmas.

We also wanted to be honest. After five years of working most weekends, we know just how much of a commitment it is. So as we’ve grown, we’ve evolved how we work.

Events and balloons are still a big part of what we do, but we’re now focusing more on larger installations and new opportunities.

We’ve partnered with @balloons_by_emilyw , whose work is original, thoughtful, and a natural fit for how we work. This allows us to continue delivering beautiful events while also growing our floral installations.

We’ve also quietly stepped into the film and TV industry, with a large project underway that we can’t share just yet, but it’s a huge step forward for us.

Fern and Wild is growing beautifully. We’re now stocked in local shops and have something new launching next week.

As always, quality is at the heart of everything we do.

And what a season it’s been!

After months of prep, we brought our Christmas decorations to 54 different locations in just four weeks. That’s a new record for us, and one we’re incredibly proud of.

Our Christmas season realistically runs from September through to mid January, and the amount of work that happens behind the scenes, both before and after, is huge. There’s so much that never gets seen, but it all comes from a real love for what we do.

Next year’s diary is already starting to fill up, so when we say book early, we truly mean it.

We even managed to squeeze in a few Christmas fayres along the way 😅

We’re now taking a well earned rest, before it’s time to head back out and take everything down again.

We want to say the biggest thank you to our amazing clients. Christmas is the backbone of our business and it allows us to keep going for the rest of the year. We genuinely wouldn’t be here without your support.

We also want to thank the incredible local businesses who continue to support us year after year. We were honestly quite sad to hear that a complaint had been made suggesting businesses weren’t doing their own decorations, and that this was the reason the Christmas window competition was cancelled. These businesses are supporting a local business, our small local business. We grew up in Brackley, this is home to us, and your support means more than we can say.

The town looks amazing. So many people have made such an effort, and we’re incredibly proud to be part of it and proud to call Brackley our town.

We’ve loved every minute of this festive season.
